The Edmachine

The Math/Science Workshop is scheduled for the week of June the 11th through the 14 at Cambridge-South Dorchester High. There will be four morning sessions lasting four hours each (8:30 – 12:30). We will be meeting in Rm# 134. Enter through the flag pole doors near the front office. Coffee and pastries at 8:00 am.</p> <p>Please, bring at least two content lessons that have been somewhat troublesome to you. Meaning they have been more difficult for your students to understand. We are going to see if integrating technology into those lessons can help increase student learning. The best format for the lessons would be Microsoft Word on a flash (thumb) drive, or CD. We would like to be able to edit the plans and possibly move them to the web. An electronic format would be best, but bringing them in on paper will work too. A general schedule for downloading is included below. Each day will have activities that may be combined Math/Science and others separated into Math or Science groups. Agenda particulars will be provided at the beginning of each morning. I have included an attached roster of participants. If there are any questions, please e-mail me. See you on Monday.

–The Technology Training will be devoted to the operation of the Texas Instruments Navigator System under the tutelage of Donna Johnson.

The Maryland Teacher Technology Standards have been posted by the state and should be adopted by each teacher as a daily guide to using technology. If there are any deficiencies in technology use, then seeking instruction to correct this deficiency should be done as soon as possible.

Here are links to software or sites where you can interact with the web. The research on the affect of technolgy on increased learning speaks most loudly in the area of interactivity. Sites and software that can become an integral part of your daily instruction will bring your instruction and your student’s learning to a new level.

At Teach-ICT.com there is a wealth of free services for teachers that can clearly improve your instruction. Let’s learn about a few of them and build ourselves some usable classroom materials.
